Keynote Speaker and Success Coach Rosann Santos on Her Business Journey
May 24, 2024
Hi, Rosann! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
Hi, I'm Rosann Santos, a keynote speaker and success coach. I enjoy coaching my clients by using their strengths to move them forward. My exceptional communication skills in both English and Spanish allow me to stand out above the crowd. I empower, enlighten, and embolden audiences and clients to view themselves and others from a strengths-based lens rather than a deficit lens.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
I like that you have programming every week and I have met some amazing women during the various networking opportunities. I am also looking forward to some PR leads.
We're so happy you're finding the programming useful! What made you take the leap to start your own business?
The pandemic left me asking "This can't be it can it?" Meaning our 9-5 grind can't be all there is for fulfilling our work lives.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I have been in higher education for 25 years.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
Word of mouth. And no, not as planned.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?
Getting a book of business or acquiring clients. It's still a challenge and I am still learning.
We're all still learning as we go! What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
I have two: 1. I raised $100,000 in two years during the pandemic for an endowment. 2. In 2023, I had my highest revenue for my LLC.
Congrats, Roseann! Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
Yes, though I do think that sometimes one takes priority over the other during certain time periods. But my biggest tip is to request your time off at the start of each fiscal year or at least six months in advance. Because I am in higher ed, I make my vacation ask every September and January for the next four-six months. And that's it. My time off is on the calendar and no one can take it away without serious consequences.
What's a piece of advice you can share that you wish you'd known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?
Don't be scared of being fired. I have yet to meet someone in my field who has been fired for advocating for themselves as long as it's done in a professional manner.
