Dr. Pinkey Patel of the SnapBack on the all-in-one postpartum App
Founder and CEO of Myri Health
April 8, 2022
Describe your business in a few words:
I am Dr. Pinkey Patel, the CEO/Founder of the SnapBack. We’ve built the only all-in-one, evidence-based postpartum App and community moms need.
As a mama and clinical pharmacist who is also a certified NASM personal trainer that specializes in pre/postnatal corrective exercise, I firsthand experienced the gap in women's healthcare and the lack of reliable, credible resources. From learning how to establish a business from scratch in 2019 to developing a consultancy, and building out an app, I juggled working full-time as a pharmacist, being a mother of two, being pregnant, and successfully bringing a product to market. When you're doing something as visceral and life-altering as growing a human, the resources you receive during and afterward should reflect that magnitude, they should be as thoroughly created, as seriously considered as the life we create.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I possess a doctorate in pharmacy and I am a certified personal trainer specializing in pre/postnatal fitness.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
I would have taken organic chemistry in my sleep 5 times and made an A, but I would run as far from a marketing or business class as I could! Absolutely NOT. Ha!
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
We launched the brand in April of 2019 and the App in September 2019. All of our traction has been from our social media channels and word of mouth. We were deeply rooted in science, transparency, and no judgment. Our audience resonated with our messaging.
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Signing our first B2B pilot with a TPA!
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I really don't like to use the word balance when we talk about work and life. Some days I am a great entrepreneur and some days I am a great mother. It is a marriage of both, and it never looks perfect or goes as planned. I learned to adapt and pivot by trying to do both while being locked in my home with a new baby and a toddler when COVID started. There is always going to be some form of guilt when you have kids and startups. I always say that guilt is like a muscle, you have to learn how to flex it and become stronger so it doesn't eat you up. There will always be something you may have to sacrifice. I really like to time blocks to be productive and be present with my children.
What have you achieved recently that you'd like to celebrate with our community?
We have had 50K organic downloads with our users! Zero ad money has been spent to date.
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
We are about to close our pre-seed round, scale, and hire our first resources, and this year we also plan to close our seed round.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
Entrepreneurship can be lonely & as a first-time founder who is raising and scaling a business, the network, support, and a sense of community is invaluable.
