Decorating Dream's Midge Fuller's Desire to "Go All In" on Her Business
September 22, 2022
Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
I am an interior designer, and I launched Decorating Dreams, which will help my clients see the potential in their homes by guiding them through the process.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
I am excited to work with Entreprenista because I feel you share the same values I do in wanting to help people.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I always was planning on going all in, but by getting my toes wet first. Fortunately, it didn't happen that way. After being terminated from my job while out on temporary disability, I was kind of forced to go all in. I haven't looked back since.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I worked as a lab technologist and did my designing on the side.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Yes, from the time I was in my twenties.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
I launched my business through Facebook, and then Instagram. I eventually used yelp and google business. I got a few leads, but no hires. I have recently tried bark.com, with the same results.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?
Right now, we are rebranding, so my website is coming soon.
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Going all in and opening my business
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I certainly do believe in work/life balance. My #1 tip would be to just breathe and take time out for yourself. Set a schedule and stick to it. Also, don't take yourself to seriously.
What have you achieved recently that you'd like to celebrate with our community?
Realizing that there are people like me.
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
The next step for my business is to have at least three clients by the end of the year and to have a revenue of $5,000. I have some debt I need to pay back, and that's why the revenue is so little.
