Two Time Entrepreneur and Beauty Booze Founder, Amanda Moran, on Her Lessons of Entrepreneurship

Fitriya-Mohamed-11

Hi Amanda! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

My name is Amanda, and I am Co-Founder & CMO of a “better-for-you” alcohol company called Beauty Booze. I am a second-time Entrepreneur & a first-generation immigrant from Brazil. My Co-Founder studied Nutrition and I studied Herbalism but we still love to enjoy cocktails. We created Beauty Booze because like many women, we care about what we put into our bodies, but we still love to have fun! Beauty Booze is an alcohol company that focuses on clean & premium skin-friendly ingredients. We created “ready-to-drink” cocktails that are designed to fit a woman’s lifestyle, and we are getting ready to launch the first ever collagen vodka made with 6X distilled vodka!

So Amanda, what excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

I love being a member of the Entreprenista League because I get to meet & collaborate with the most ambitious, hard-working women. There is nothing more motivating and exciting than connecting with other like-minded women that are seeking success.

What made you take the leap to start Beauty Booze?

Like many others, COVID-19 was actually the leap I needed to start my own business. I’m the type that always has to feel busy & accomplished, so when I didn’t have a job to go to during lockdown, I decided to figure out how to start my first business.

Did you have a background in the alcohol industry before launching Beauty Booze?

I studied Herbalism prior to starting this business while working full-time in bars & restaurants.

Beauty Booze

Did you always know you wanted to be an entreprenista?

Yes, but it was a very gradual process. I always knew I would build financial freedom for myself but wasn’t sure how I was going to do it. I just knew I wanted to start a business but never knew what it would be in until I finally started my first business during COVID-19 and learned what I liked vs did not like from it.

When first launching Beauty Booze, what was your initial strategy? What did you focus on?

Since I had experience with a previous product launch, I put together a strategy based on what worked last time and of course added some new strategies. We are still implementing those strategies as a newer business but so far it is working very well. We are focusing on building brand awareness and community through social media as well as taking part in local events for local exposure.

Entreprenistas must overcome challenges and be resilient. What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way?

My biggest challenge has been learning how to not be extremely hard on myself if something does not prove to be as successful as I expected. I realize that Entrepreneurship is a lot of throwing things against the wall until they stick and if they don’t then pivoting until you get it right. The key thing I learned from it is simply accept when something does not work, but don’t give up on it until it does.

Amanda, you have lots to celebrate! What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

I am most proud of the interest that we receive from creators and influencers in wanting to collaborate with us. It means that we have built something special that some of the most talented, influential women want to take part in.

Work life balance sometime seems unattainable. Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

Absolutely!!! I learned how important it is after a major dealing with a major burnout that affected the momentum of my new business. I truly believe that in order to avoid a burnout, you MUST have a work/life balance and focus heavily on good sleep. The top 3 things that help me the most are taking anywhere between 8-30 minutes to do a Melissa Wood Health or Down Dog practice, having a sleep schedule (9:30PM-5:30AM works for me), and waiting 2 hours before your morning coffee because it has incredible hormonal benefits.

What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

A piece of advice would be to make sure you have your email notifications on! This way, you won’t miss a potentially great opportunity someone is offering or that is coming up.

So Amanda, as mentioned earlier, you have lots to celebrate! What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

Recently, we were chosen as 1 out of 9 cocktail companies to pitch in a huge industry event for BevNET’s Cocktail Showdown, and we received incredible feedback!

It was so lovely to get to know you, Amanda! Lastly, what’s next for Beauty Booze?

Next, is expanding our store locations so we can all enjoy Beauty Booze & level up our drinking experience, so make sure you follow up on Instagram to stay updated for your area!
