Marketer and Mamaprenista, Laura Sinclair, on Launching The LJ Social Agency
Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
I believe that you and your business deserve to be seen. With over a decade of experience building digital marketing strategies for some of the world’s biggest brands, I now teach ambitious women how to adapt the growth strategies of fortunate 500s for their own businesses – empowering them to step into their inner CEO along the way (without sacrificing their sanity). A mom of two, I am a Marketing and Business Mentor for ambitious women and CEO of the boutique social media marketing agency, The LJ Social Agency and the host of This Mother Means Business podcast.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
Connecting with other like minded entrepreneurs! I really believe entrepreneurship is only as lonely as you make it.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I wanted freedom of my mind, mostly, and to create what I wanted to create in the world without having to be in a box someone else created for me.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I have 8 years of PR and corporate marketing experience in technology, luxury automotive, and sport marketing, and I also ran a brick and mortar CrossFit gym for 5 years.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
No! I am the first entrepreneur in my family, so it wasn’t something I even knew was an option for me until I was almost 30!
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
I think most new businesses start with selling to people you know, and I’ve been really lucky to meet a lot of people in my life. So with a marketing background – I would say yes, it went as planned, but I also knew that things take time! I was very fortunate that way, but its always led with just being myself and speaking from the heart.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?
Navigating motherhood while building my businesses. I have two little kids and that in itself is a full time job!
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Just never giving up. We lost the gym during COVID, and I had every reason to just pack it all in. But I never have!
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
No. I believe in work life integration or work life harmony.
What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?
Comparing yourself to other people is pretty impossible to avoid, but your path is perfect.
It’s easy to look at where someone else is and allow their success to make you feel like you are somehow behind, or not doing enough – but I try to look at other people’s success as proof of what is possible for me, while also recognizing that we all have different talents, resources, and supports.
The way someone else got there doesn’t have to be the way I get there, and the same applies for everyone. As a mom of two little kids, sometimes my path feels messy, or disjointed, but I know that I will get where I want to be with time.
What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
