Mamaprenista and Modern as a Mother Founder, Gillian Wade, on Making Busy Moms’ Lives Easier
Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
I am a Digital Marketing expert turned Chef! I live in Orange County, CA with my husband and two kids. Creating quick, healthy recipes is my thing! Meal plans can be so time-consuming, but Modern as a Mother has meal plans that can actually make your week easier. I am here to get busy moms in and out of the kitchen as fast as possible. Awesome right?! I’ve also started a private chef/catering business, where I drop off meals at your house. Can’t wait to get to know you!
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
I am excited to collaborate on social media content. I would love to meet Entreprenista’s in my local area and film content together! I am also excited to learn from more seasoned entrepreneurs – who have been successful at selling through social media. Just having a support group of entrepreneur ladies sounds pretty awesome!
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
Yes, I have!
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I was in the corporate marketing field. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
No, not at all!
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out, and did it go as planned?
To hustle on Instagram but only spread out my marketing efforts across multiple channels, such as Pinterest, website set, etc.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?
Converting engaged followers on Instagram into customers.
What is the accomplishment you are the proudest of to date?
Starting my private chef/catering side of the business.
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
Oh, yes! Scheduled work hours are crucial to me. Staying very organized with separate work and life to-do lists has helped me so much as well.
What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?
To give yourself grace. Hustle hard, but don’t forget to be kind to yourself. You may not reach every goal when you want to but that is okay. You are still on the right path, making enough progress.
What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?
A couple of my recent reels on Instagram got over 25K views each!!
What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
I’ll still be cooking for people but I plan to package my cooking expertise into purchasable content that genuinely makes cooking and meal planning easier for busy moms!
