Describe your business in a few words:
I'm a self-proclaimed fun expert, who proudly wears her heart on her sleeve. I love helping people because it forces me to be the best version of myself.
Gymparty is a fun virtual wellness program that helps everyday people find joy in fitness and nutrition so they can stick to something that works for them. The program is inclusive, diverse, and community based - yet, you still get that personalized touch.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
Oh my gosh, I did it all.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Nope. The word actually really scares me and sounds weird when I say it.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
When I first launched Gymparty, it was early in the pandemic (because why not start a business when the world is in disarray). My marketing strategy was just solely dependent on social media. At first, it did work. I think people were looking for a way to connect virtually. But as time went by and things started to open up again, membership sign-ups slowed down.
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Our community is amazing! We have people from all backgrounds, ages, shapes, and sizes. Everyone genuinely roots for each other and cares about how we're each doing. It's really an honor and privilege to see.
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I believe in being the same person you are in and out of work so you don't need to feel like there is some sort of balance to be had. It's also very important that work does not define your self-worth. If you start there, then you'll realize that stepping away to take a break isn't so hard.
What have you achieved recently that you'd like to celebrate with our community?
Gymparty received The City of San Jose's 2021 Community Builder Award. This was super cool because it's where I was born and raised.
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
I'm hoping to add more members, more events, and more fun!
