You may know about the skincare brand Rodan + Fields, or the popular acne treatment Proactiv, both created by dermatologists Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy A. Fields. What you may not know is the incredible journey they have been on, the challenges they’ve faced, the community they’ve built, and the social impact they have put in motion because of the work they’ve done beyond their dermatology practices. Katie and Kathy join Socialfly co-founders Stephanie Cartin and Courtney Spritzer for a conversation about building their business and careers, and describing their journeys to success, including: how a challenge to find a hobby led two friends to launch a skincare empire; why marrying skill, expertise, passion and hard work creates the recipe for success; how serendipity led Katie and Kathy to their infamous infomercials; why they believe that a real entrepreneur is seeking impact instead of money; how seeing opportunity in spite of pain points helps you just keep going; coming back from being down to their last $50 and a failed million dollar tech platform; the great day of selling their company to Estee Lauder (and greater day of buying it back); and, how their journey has been like building a rocket ship while it is already in flight. Plus, a surprise!
