Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

My best friend and I divorced at the same time (drama and cheating ex-husbands), and we had one another leading up to it, during the process, and for everything after. We started the “exEXPERTS and Divorce etc…” podcast to help people in the same way we helped one another. We’ve lived it, so we get it.

What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

I’m looking forward to learning and love collaborating.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

We knew there was a need to support men and women going through a divorce, and even more so now with identity theft, hacking, tracking, and 10 pages of Google Paid Ads. People need a place that helps educate, empower and support them as a result of divorce and that’s what we do.

What was your background before starting your own business?

I was the Director of Experiential Events for USA Today/Gannett.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

I was an intrpreneur within Gannett, I had tremendous creative freedom and essentially built an event business within a traditional media company.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out, and did it go as planned?

We’ve been all over the place with our plans, but our goal has remained intact. We had lots of ideas and it was hard to focus on one, but we’ve learned.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?

We learned to pick one goal and work towards it and that “shiny things” are not always good things for our business.

What is the accomplishment you are the proudest of to date?

We’ve produced over 200 episodes (and 2 seasons) of our Divorce etc… podcast, we have a robust website filled with tons of resources to help people no matter where they are in the process and we are touching and helping people. The testimonials from our outreach, our personal stories, and our ability to demonstrate how you can move forward are rewarding and make a difference.

Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

Yes. I’ve been WFH for years before Covid. I created a workspace that is productive for me which includes music, facing a window, and access to working outdoors. I take a break at some point in my day to walk my dog and just listen to music. My day also starts with a workout, so no matter what, that happens before work kicks in.

What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I knew it didn’t all have to be done right away. I wish I knew that educating ourselves was important (taxes, what it means to have an LLC), and testing the concept early on would have saved us money.

What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

We launched our Inner Circle and Open House events 3 months ago, and our participation rate is steadily increasing our engagement through our newsletter and social DM is daily which is awesome!

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

We want to consider collaborations for live events and creating a coaching program for people to work with us directly and privately.
