Co-Founder of The Fertility Resort, Bryant Liggett, on The Career She’s Always Dreamed Of

Feature-Graphics-37

Hi Bryant! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

Hello, friends! My name is Bryant Liggett and I’m the Co-Founder of The Fertility Resort. Born from the ashes of years of infertility and loss, I created The Fertility Resort in hopes of eliminating “I didn’t know what I didn’t know” from the infertility narrative. The Fertility Resort is a membership-based and comprehensive online platform designed to connect those striving to conceive through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), and the providers who want to get you there. The Fertility Resort’s foundation is built upon our “Three Cs” – Content, Community, and Coaching:

Content Our content is derived from Evidence Based Research and Evidence Informed Practice; we tease out the data that is driving the fertility train. Keeping up to date on what’s happening in the ART world right now, we synthesize the current research into simple formats and deliver it to our members in digestible ways.

Community: Our community is a protected space that serves to inform and empower our members through the inevitable physical and emotional challenges that ART brings. We emphasize the importance of providers’ opinions using educational tools, peer to peer contact, and digital resources. We encourage our members, on our HIPAA compliant platform, to share with each other for the compassion and understanding that only other people in the same boat can provide.

Coaching: Coaching is a branch of healthcare that focuses on identifying the needs and values of patients while simultaneously creating strategic plans of implementation to achieve their ultimate goals. Our coaches will act as quarterbacks for our members; they will work as the liaison between providers, professionals, and patients, helping them determine their next best decisions and overcome the obstacles that feel overwhelming. Welcome to The Fertility Resort; a protected space for all humans on their unique journey to parenthood.

What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

I love being an Entreprenista! The resources are incredible and I love having a network of like-minded female powerhouses right at my fingertips.

So Bryant, what made you take the leap to start your own business?

I’ve always been told by coworkers and mentors that I’m a thought leader, but I’ve never had the confidence to see myself that way until recently. Five years ago, I helped found a multi-million dollar brewery, and that experience really gave me the confidence to manifest the career I’ve always dreamed of. My infertility journey completely reshaped my life in a way that made me realize that if I can’t birth a baby, then I’m going to birth something else that will help other women do what my body cannot.

Did you have a background in women’s health prior to starting your own business?

I’m a freelance Digital Marketing Strategist who specializes in the Food and Beverage industry, but my portfolio represents clients across the healthcare, beauty, and media industries.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes! My dad was an entrepreneur and politician, and he always told me the best boss I’ll ever have is myself. And he was right.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

We’re actually in that phase now! We’re currently in Beta Testing and planning our launch for August 1. We’re really focusing on rolling out a clear and concise brand by sharing our story: who we are, what we do, and why it matters. The why, the problem, and the solution. We’re relying on social media, Instagram in particular, to get this message out since that’s where the (in)fertile community primarily congregates. But since we’re a provider backed platform, we’re also spending a lot of time networking with allied professionals to help build our network of content creators and contributors. So we aren’t just marketing to potential members, we’re also marketing to their doctors. Think of it as a B to B AND B to C strategy. 🙂 So far, it’s working!

Entreprenistas are resilient. What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way?

Navigating the legalities of founding a healthcare-based fertility community has been our biggest learning curve. In an age of political uproar with the overturn of Roe v Wade, it’s been a challenge to create a nation-wide platform that offers support to states that each have different fertility laws. Finding the right board of advisors has been key for us!

What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

I’m so proud of the fact that my pitch of The Fertility Resort won the 2022 Selfmade Pitch Contest!

Do you believe in work life balance, and if so, how do you set boundaries?

I 100% believe in it, but also recognize it’s a privilege to have a true work/life balance when you’re an entrepreneur. It can be really hard to set boundaries, but I’ve learned that if you don’t, burnout will rear its ugly head. The biggest thing I’ve learned is how to put a true value on my time. Why spend hours struggling with something I’m not an expert in when I could outsource it to someone who is? It’s a no brainer when you realize just how much time you’re wasting, and instead could be focusing on business development or spending time with family. I also fully believe in 10 minute meditations for mental clarity both personally and professionally.

What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

Surround yourself with a network of like-minded entrepreneurs who you can rely on for support, encouragement, and resources. That’s why I joined Entreprenistas!

Bryant, you have lots to celebrate! What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

A successful Beta Tester launch, and launching our podcast, Protected Space, at the end of summer!

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

We have BIG plans for the future. Expanding our fertility greeting card line and merchandise store front, taking The Fertility Resort on the road for events, a VERY secret first Fertilicon™ in 2024, and opening the first Fertility Resort location right here on the Gulf Coast.
