Hi, Christina! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

I’m Christina, I’m a journalist, national TV producer, and publicity and content creation agency owner of Media Maven. Our three-part YES Method amplifies the brand’s media exposure without breaking the bank. I started Media Maven after working as a local TV anchor and reporter for more than 10 years. My all-female team are former journalists. I’ve written a book, hosted a podcast, and delivered a weekly newsletter to business owners and chief marketing officers – all under the name Become a Media Maven. I enjoy spending time with my husband and three young children in South Florida. You can follow along with our adventures on my lifestyle blog Christina All Day and on social media where I’m active daily (when I’m not reading a book).

What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

I am excited to make connections that will help all of us hit our goals.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I wanted a flexible schedule and the only way to get it was to be my own boss and call the shots.

Independence is a great part of entrepreneurship! Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

No! I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. I just got to the point where there was no other way to give myself what I wanted. I became a business owner due to lack of options and I wouldn’t have it any other way now.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

I treated myself as my own client. Since I’m in marketing, I practiced what I preached. I was a guest on podcasts, contributed to online outlets, and created thought-provoking content consistently.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?

The biggest challenge was letting go of control and building a team. It was a hard thing to do, but once I did it, I couldn’t get enough!

What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

I am most proud of my team and the retention rate. When you treat people around you well, they do good work and stick around to enjoy what they’re doing.

Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

I sure do. When you feel like it’s too much, take a step back. Most of us aren’t saving lives, so let’s remember to enjoy the journey and not worry so much about getting to the finish line…and when you get there, don’t move it. Celebrate.

We all need to celebrate our wins! What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I knew the importance of focusing on just one thing and doing that one thing well. Strategy is a word that is often overused and it is something that is crucial to seeing success.

What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

I just published my first book, Become a Media Maven, and it became an Amazon best seller.

Amazing, Christina! We’re super proud. What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

I’m spending a lot of time with the amazing crew at Star Entertainment as we produce the new series Health Uncensored! with Dr. Drew. It airs on Fox Business Network.
