Who are your customers?

Global online entrepreneurs (coaches, course creators, consultants)

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

I enjoyed an award winning sales career spanning more than 20 years. I worked for various corporations growing their market share, and producing millions in portfolios.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I actually never thought I would leave corporate...it kind of surprised me. About 7 years ago, my corporate career began to feel like a jacket that was two sizes too small. Not only did I not have control over my time, but in the end, I didn't have control over my compensation despite being in a commission role. I knew that I wanted to do something more fulfilling. I decided to take my gifts and talents in sales, marketing and business growth and enjoy helping other entrepreneurs grow their dream. I grew my online coaching business alongside my full time career, busy kids, and husband until I could fully exit.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Gosh no...my father was self-employed and made it look really awful....he worked ALL the time. I guess God had other plans for me :)

Take us back to when you first launched your business; what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

I have used and been successful with organic marketing not only throughout my corporate career but now as an online entrepreneur. I created my own free Facebook group to build a community of like-minded entrepreneurs and for my visibility. I made sure my social media profiles reflected who I was, who I served and how I served them. I created social media content to attract my ideal clients to my email list. I started going live every week..and still go live weekly all these years later...to reach a wider audience and grow my email list.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?

The learning curve of the tech without question. Tech is NOT my love language. What I have learned about myself though is that I am far more capable than I thought, and once I have someone show me the basics, I can figure it out most of the time. I have learned to not be afraid to ask for help, and to be ready to hire out when needed.

What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?

It would be blowing well past 6 figures in my second full year in business. It was at that point that I knew I was going to be just fine and not ever have to return to working for anyone else.

Do you have any recent wins from the last year that you'd like to celebrate with our community?

I created and launched my podcast and it was ranked in the top 5% globally within the first 12 days. I was asked to speak on stage for the Arkansas Podcast Collaborative to a room full of incredible podcasters at their annual conference.

What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

I would love to do more teaching, and speaking on global stages to help more entrepreneurs learn the visibility and list growth strategies that have made me and my clients very successful.

What is your top productivity tip?

I ask myself "does it have to be done by me" and if not, then delegate it. If the task HAS to be done by me, then I ask myself "does this have to be done right now" so that I don't disrupt the schedule I have set and can work in the task at a time that works best for me.

On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?

I rarely feel burnout because I truly love what I do....but there are times when I need a break and I am good about telling my team when this happens so we can figure it out together and give me breathing room in the schedule.

What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?

My approach is to be flexible and know that work/life/family will never be fully balanced. We have to do the best we can from week to week.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I had known how steep the learning curve would be coming from a successful sales career in corporate to the online entrepreneurial space.

When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?

What do you do when you encounter a roadblock? How do you handle it?

If you've raised capital for your business already, what are some of your best tips or lessons learned?

I have been very fortunate and was able to bootstrap my business without loans or capital.

Are you a Mamaprenista? If so, please share your best advice for simultaneously managing a business and a family

When I started my online business, our kids were in high school and middle school and played every sport that had a ball.....or at least it felt like it. I worked a lot in the car on the way to and from events and practices. I got up early to get work done before our day would get started. Thankfully my children and husband were very understanding during the week when I would need to have some office hours. By setting my office hours weekly, they knew when I would be working and when I wasn't working, so they felt confident they would always have Mom time.

What's the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?

Facebook. It's my main platform and it's important for me to stay current with my students in our private group.

What is your favorite business tool or solution and why?

It's a tie between Google and Voxer. Google folders, docs and sheets for organization and Voxer for easy communication with my team.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

Consistency and patience are the wonder twins of business success. Embrace both, even on days when you don't feel like it. Being an entrepreneur can feel lonely and difficult, it's a rollercoaster. Stay consistent, stay patient....you will reach your goals step by step
