Sandra Morno Helps Women Entrepreneurs Manage Their Money
May 15, 2024
Hi, Sandra! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
I'm Sandra Morno, a tax strategist and IRS Enrolled Agent, and I run SSBM Consulting LLC. I specialize in helping women with six-figure service businesses in the U.S., who live abroad or travel, manage their taxes. My mission is to educate and save them money while providing peace of mind. I stumbled into this industry 15 years ago and learned the importance of business structures after a hefty IRS bill. I earned my IRS Enrolled Agent certification in 2013. I am currently on my Latin America tour in Argentina, I am looking to find a home outside the U.S. and become fluent in Spanish. I enjoy 90-2000s music, especially reggae, am a college football junkie, and love reality shows like Top Chef. I'm a Miami native and firmly on Team Warmth – life's too short for layers. I'm also a proud first-generation Haitian American.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
I am excited about having a real community where I can get support and find partnerships and friends on this journey of a business owner.
We're always here for support! What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I wanted freedom and flexibility to work when I want and travel the world.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
No, after college I found myself constantly looking for ways to not work in a traditional work setting, which led me to start a few businesses before working in tax.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
I didn't have any marketing. Back in 2013, it was all word of mouth when it came to taxes.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?
Getting consistent business. I learned I needed to push myself more and get out there to network and find opportunities to speak and educate others.
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I do! I take naps. I have days where my where no electronics are on and I am out enjoying the day. I meditate and try to stay thankful.
That's super important! What's a piece of advice you can share that you wish you'd known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?
I wish I had a real community around me.
We're so happy you have that now. What have you achieved recently that you'd like to celebrate with our community?
I brought in help so I can focus more on bringing in new annual clients.
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
Build to where I can sell it and focus on other things that I love.
