Describe Random Group in a few words?
Full service film production.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
Got a degree in film, got out of college wanting to make my own work.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
None!
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Somewhat. Knew I wanted to be a boss!
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
Word of mouth from connections.
We always learn the most from our mistakes, share a time with us that you made a mistake or had a challenging time in business and what you learned from it?
Tried to do too much at once and projects fell through because I wasn't focused enough to see it completed. Learned to delegate and go slow - one thing at a time!
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
Seeing people I work with get to do what they love and be successful - helping them to grow in career and life.
When hiring for your team, what is your go-to interview question? Please share any hiring tips you can share from your experience?
How do you deal with a situation with a person who is being rude or disrespectful or not cooperating with the rest of the crew? When I'm hiring I go with my instinct - not necessarily the best resume!
How has your business or industry been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Industry was shut down for a while but still managed to work from home, writing, prepping and getting ready to go back to set in person! A lot more zoom and virtual meetings and shooting!
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
More amazing projects - producing a TV pilot/series and a docuseries as well as writing another feature and a tv series!
What is the biggest lesson you have learned in 2020?
Me time is important!
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were first starting your business?
How to get people to take you seriously when you have no reputation to follow you.
How have you managed to stay grounded this year?
Meditating, self work, detoxing mold from my body!
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
Sleep is better than caffeine - caffeine makes you jittery, sleep is your friend.
What's something our audience would be surprised to learn about you?
How old I really am!
What are your top 3 tips to stay productive each day?
Focus on one thing at a time, keep healthy mentally, physically and emotionally (get help if you need it), don't street the small stuff.
What does being an Entreprenista mean to you?
Being the best I can to help people while loving the work I do.
